With the recent development of our offshore operations, a few new phrases and words have come to regular use among our staff members – “offshore training”, “offshore survival”, BOSIET, OPITO...
Anyone going on an offshore platform needs to go through a specific training, which is validated by a test and certificate. It includes occasional visitors as well as employees working full-time on the platform.
The most important training is the BOSIET - Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training. It’s a 3-day training course, which covers which covers the following: Safety Induction, Helicopter Safety & Escape, Sea Survival, Fire Fighting and Self Rescue. BOSIET training has the same contents everywhere; it’s regulated by a UK organisation called OPITO which audits the training centres around the world before allowing them to
issue certificates. The training certificate is valid for 4 years.
The Helicopter Underwater Escape Training, more commonly known as HUET, is an integral part of BOSIET. It’s designed to prepare candidates for a possible emergency landing/ ditching when travelling by helicopter going to or from an offshore platform.

With these training sessions, all employees going offshore are prepared to cope with emergency situations that can arise offshore.
LCM works with training company ISTC in Malta.
